~Synopsis~

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals – well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem – staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

*No Spoilers, I Promise*

“Half-Blood” was an amazingly awesome first installment in the Covenant Series by the ever so talented, Jennifer L. Armentrout. I loved everything about it: the storyline, characters, everything. Truly, I did. I never wanted it to end and the conclusion left me craving for more, as all of Ms. Armentrout’s books tend to do.

The storyline was incredibly unique and intriguing, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Honestly, it was amazing. I had never read a book based on Greek mythology before, and I have to say, I absolutely loved it. It kept me extremely entertained throughout, and everything that happened – and there was a lot – never once left me bored. I continuously wanted to keep reading and was on the edge of my seat the entire time, seriously not knowing what to expect next.

The characters, oh my, don’t even get me started on them. They. Were. AMAZING! Honestly, they completely made the book for me. The main characters, Alex and Aiden, were phenomenal and I instantly fell in love with them. Alex was so freaking hilarious and entertaining; there was definitely never a dull moment when she was around. Aiden was sinfully sexy and her complete opposite in almost every way. They balanced each other out extremely well, though, and I loved the chemistry between the two of them. I loved getting to see them interact with each other, and thank the gods there wasn’t any shortage of that.  Many of the secondary characters were wonderful and extremely entertaining as well, especially Caleb and Seth. Caleb was Alex’s best friend and partner-in-crime, and her male counterpart in almost every way possible.  You never knew what the two of them would do, but it usually ended up with them getting into trouble – namely Alex. Seth and Alex were also very similar, almost eerily so, but they were certainly entertaining and fun to read about.

I loved, loved, LOVED this first installment in the Covenant Series, and I cannot wait to read the rest! Holy Daimon Babies, I’m thoroughly hooked!

    • Yes, it most definitely is. I love the Covenant Series as much as I do the Lux Series. I have actually read both series completely, but I love them so much that I keep rereading them over and over again. I can’t get enough! :)
