~Synopsis~

In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them…

~Review~

I believe this was the seventh time that I had read “Clockwork Angel,” and it has never once ceased to entertain and captivate me from the very first page. Cassandra Clare truly has an extraordinary talent for creating an amazing storyline and a wonderful array of characters, and I honestly loved her writing style as well.

I am completely obsessed with the Shadow World, and I absolutely fell in love with the Shadowhunters and other characters of the London Institute. Tessa Gray, William Herondale, and James Carstairs – just to name a few – completely captured my heart from the very beginning, and I immensely loved reading every minute of the first part of their story. They were all strong and relatable characters, and they each had such wonderful qualities and characteristics that I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. I loved Tessa, Will, and Jem’s personalities and the relationship they all had with each other. The three of them complemented each other very well, and I couldn’t help but love and be entertained by their banter with one another. Tessa, Will, and Jem were most definitely my favorite characters, and I loved getting to know a little about them in this book. Charlotte and Henry Branwell, Sophie Collins, Magnus Bane, and Thomas touched my heart as well, and I truly couldn’t have asked for better or more likable characters. Every time I have come back to read this book and series, it has felt like coming home to old friends that I just want to hold near and dear to my heart for eternity.

The entire concept of the Shadow World with Shadowhunters, Warlocks, Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, the Fair Folk, and everything in between was just mind-blowing and I couldn’t help but fall in love with every single aspect of it. Cassandra Clare has a unique and incredible way of pulling the reader in and keeping them hooked from beginning to end with many surprising twists and turns. There was definitely never a dull moment throughout the book; I was in suspense nearly the entire time and absolutely loved every second of it. The Infernal Devices trilogy is truly my all-time favorite series that incorporates romance, action and adventure, humor, drama, suspense, and a unique paranormal twist. Cassandra Clare is most definitely one of my top favorite authors, and I cannot wait to continue reading more of her books about the Shadow World. “Clockwork Angel” was truly a masterpiece of Young Adult literature that will always continue to blow me away again and again!

    • The Infernal Devices is also by far my favorite trilogy that I have ever read. I always have been and always will be Team Wessa as well! I love Jem dearly, but it has always been Will and Tessa for me. They are truly meant to be together, in my opinion. :)
