Book Review – A Nordic King by Karina Halle

41957608Synopsis

A widowed father of two little girls. The beautiful nanny he’s hired to raise them. A forbidden romance unlike any other. A Nordic King is the newest standalone royal romance from the New York Times bestselling author of The Pact and The Swedish Prince.

When I first applied for the job I thought it would be like all the others: working as a nanny for an aristocratic family.
Then I got the job and found out how wrong I was.

Now I’m the new nanny for two adorable little girls who happen to be princesses.

Their father is the widowed King of Denmark.
And my new home? The royal palace in Copenhagen.
Adjusting to my new life isn’t easy but the hardest part hasn’t been the girls who still grieve over the loss of their mother.

It’s their father.

Cold, mysterious and moody, with an icy stare that seems to penetrate your soul, King Aksel may have hired me to take care of his daughters but he wants as little to do with me as possible.

Yet the longer I share these palace walls with this man, the more that I’m drawn to him. His chiseled face and sexual swagger are only part of the package. It’s in the long, intense glances at the dinner table, the way we’ll brush up against each other in the halls, the rare glimpses of the man deep inside, like the sun passing through clouds.

But no matter how I feel about him, we can never be together.

You think it’s bad enough being in love with your boss?

Try falling in love with a king.

A Nordic King is a 100% complete standalone story and a spin-off of The Swedish Prince and The Wild Heir.

Review

NO SPOILERS!

A Nordic King was royal romance PERFECTION, and my absolute FAVORITE book of 2018 so far! A Nordic King was a steamy, funny, emotional, and beautiful slow burn standalone forbidden royal romance, and I adored it with all of my heart and soul! A Nordic King has been Karina Halle’s BEST book to date, as well as the BEST royal romance I’ve ever read. The storyline and characters she created were out of this world phenomenal. Karina Halle is by far one of my top favorite contemporary romance authors, and her talent and storytelling are unparalleled. Everything she writes is beautiful, breathtaking, and utterly addicting, and I can’t wait to devour more from her!

The storyline was everything I wanted and so much more. I’m absolutely obsessed with the royal romance trope, especially when you add slow burn and forbidden into the mix, and no one does it better than Karina Halle. She completely blew my mind with the storyline for A Nordic King, and I truly couldn’t have loved it more. Everything was absolute perfection, and I was head over heels in love with and addicted to every single thing. I would give almost anything to go back and read and experience it for the first time again. I honestly can’t stop gushing over how much I loved and adored A Nordic King, and even if you don’t think you’d like royal romance, give it a try. It’s so much more than you’d expect; it’s absolutely EVERYTHING you never knew you so desperately wanted and needed!

The characters were outstanding. Aksel and Aurora have been my favorite characters from Karina Halle so far, and I completely fell head over heels in love with them and their story. Aksel and Aurora were unlike any characters I’ve read before. As King, Aksel appeared cold, calculating, and unfeeling on the outside, but on the inside were so many more layers and emotions. He was sexy, charming, and a dirty talker if I’d ever heard one, but above all else, he was a good man and father with a heart of pure gold. Aksel also had a beautiful way with words, and was so swoon-worthy at times, I almost had to fan myself. As the nanny to the royal family of Denmark, Aurora was sweet, kind, and compassionate, but also had a backbone and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. I loved her strength and ability to adapt to almost any situation. Aksel and Aurora, though fourteen years apart in age, and him the King of Denmark and her the nanny to the royal family, were a perfect match for each other, and I couldn’t have loved them more. I loved Aksel and Aurora’s personalities and smoking HOT chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading A Nordic King from both Aksel and Aurora’s point of view, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Even though Aksel and Aurora’s romance was slow burn, the wait was oh so worth it. Their chemistry together was explosive and definitely burned up the pages on my Kindle. Many of the secondary characters were amazing as well, and I absolutely loved Aksel’s two daughters. They were adorable and definitely added something special to the story. Karina Halle gave me the perfect balance of swoon-worthy romance, steamy intimate moments, plenty of laughter and emotions, and incredibly lovable characters. A Nordic King had it all in spades and then some, and I absolutely loved going on Aksel and Aurora’s beautiful, breathtaking, and unforgettable journey. The conclusion was perfect, and I loved it so much.

A Nordic King was a steamy, funny, swoon-worthy, and unforgettable slow burn standalone forbidden royal romance, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! Karina Halle did an extraordinary job, not only with A Nordic King, but also The Swedish Prince and The Wild Heir. This entire series of complete standalone royal romances have been Karina Halle’s BEST works to date, and my favorite from her as well. However, A Nordic King has been my absolute favorite of the three, and will hold a very special place in my heart for a long time to come. I will never forget Aksel and Aurora’s story for as long as I live, and will return to it again and again. Karina Halle writes romance like no other, and I’m dying to devour whatever she releases next!
