Are you looking for a proofreader?
First impressions are extremely important, and you usually only get one chance to make a great one. If you are ready to publish your novel and are looking for a second pair of eyes to do a final once-over on your manuscript, you’ve come to the right place.
Proofreading is a passion of mine and I strive for perfection in my work. I am only human, but I pay great attention to detail, and will do my absolute best to mark any grammatical errors that may be present in your manuscript. I want your book to look as polished as it can before publication, and I promise to do my very best to make that happen. I use the Merriam-Webster dictionary and other online resources for reference, unless directed otherwise.
**Proofreading is the FINAL step and should only be done after ALL of your edits are complete. Please don’t book your manuscript for proofreading unless it has already been edited.**
What does my proofreading service provide?
I will do a one-time pass of your manuscript to look for grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors sometimes easily overlooked, including all of the following:
- Misspelled Words
- Incorrect/Missing/Extra Words
- Punctuation Errors (including, but not limited to: missing commas, periods, or quotation marks).
- Grammar Errors (Errors that only need simple fixes will be noted.)
I will also ensure consistency in:
If you have any general questions or concerns regarding my proofreading service, I will be more than happy to answer them. Please use the short form on my Contact page, otherwise fill out the proofreading form below. All communications between myself and the author will be conducted via email.
What manuscripts do I accept?
I have the most experience reading and proofreading romantic fiction in a variety of genres, especially New Adult and Adult Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy, Sports Romance, etc.
I accept manuscripts in the following formats:
- *Microsoft Word Document (Preferred)
- *Google Document
*I use the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word, or the comment feature in Google Docs, to mark any errors I may come across in your manuscript. That way it will be easier for you to review any changes you may need to make before publication.
How long does it take?
The time frame to proofread your manuscript will vary depending on the word count and severity of the corrections that need to be marked. Turnaround time is usually around 3-7 days. If you need it rushed, an additional fee will apply. If for some reason you are late sending the manuscript to me after we have scheduled a specific date and haven’t notified me at least 24 hours in advance, a late fee will apply for every day that you are past due with the manuscript.
Scheduling: Please give me a reasonable amount of notice in advance (preferably at least 10 or more days) before you would like to schedule me to proofread your manuscript. Depending on my availability, I may or may not be able to fit you in right away. It’s easier for me to schedule clients with specific dates in mind, if possible, but feel free to contact me anytime.
What do I charge?
My rate is $.004* USD per word.
Example: $.004 x 50,000 words = $200
I round to the nearest dollar amount.
Payments are only accepted via PayPal. Due to Paypal’s fee policy regarding currency conversion, I ONLY accept authors located in the United States. I apologize for the inconvenience.
