First impressions are extremely important, and you usually only get one chance to make a great one. If you are ready to publish, or have already published, your novel or novella and need a fresh set of eagle eyes to do a final once-over on your manuscript, you’ve come to the right person.
My name is Julia Griffis, and I’m an avid romance reader, blogger, and proofreader. Proofreading is a passion of mine, and I absolutely love helping authors perfect and polish their manuscripts. I’m a meticulous proofreader that will provide a thorough and affordable line-by-line proofing in a timely and efficient manner and will read over your manuscript with a fine-tooth comb to find any typographical, grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors that may be present, as well as other mistakes and inconsistencies sometimes easily overlooked. I’m only human but always strive for perfection in my work and pay great attention to detail. I proofread post-edit and previously published works of contemporary romantic fiction in a variety of subgenres and tropes. I use the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and other online resources for reference, unless directed otherwise.
I don’t proofread nonfiction, paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi, dark romance, historical romance, horror, and graphic novels/novellas.
Please ensure your manuscript has already been completely edited before submitting it for proofreading. If significant editing issues are present, I reserve the right to return the manuscript or charge an additional fee (which will be discussed with you prior to invoicing) for the extra work.
What I Do
I’m a meticulous proofreader that will do one thorough line-by-line read-through of your manuscript to look for all of the following errors:

Microsoft Word with Track Changes and comments
I use Microsoft Word with Track Changes to mark/correct any errors I may come across in your manuscript and comments for suggestions, questions, or remarks. That way it will be easier for you to review and accept or reject any changes I’ve made to your manuscript before publication.
No manuscript is one hundred percent perfect, so I highly encourage you to carefully review the final manuscript before publishing. No changes are made to your manuscript without your final approval.

Turnaround Time
The time frame to proofread your manuscript will vary depending on the word count and the number/severity of typos that need to be corrected. Approximate turnaround time is about 5-7 days from the date we set for proofreading to begin. Rush jobs may be available on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee.
Scheduling: Depending on my schedule and availability, I may or may not be able to fit you in right away or on the date(s) you request, but I will try to accommodate your schedule the best that I can. My schedule usually books out at least 1-2 months in advance, but it varies, so please always contact me about availability regardless.
Rate
$.005 USD per word
Example: $.005 x 50,000 words = $250.00
I round to the nearest dollar amount.
Due to PayPal’s fees and international conversion rates, I only accept manuscripts from authors located in the United States or Canada. Thank you for understanding, and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Minimum $50.00 Proofreading Fee
All payments are nonrefundable.
Policies
PAYMENT:
I only invoice and accept payment via PayPal. I will send you a PayPal invoice for the total amount after I finish proofreading the manuscript. Payment is due upon receipt. All payments are nonrefundable. I must be paid in full before final files are sent.
CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING:
As a courtesy, please notify me at least 14 days prior to your scheduled start date if you need to cancel or reschedule. Thank you!
SUBMITTING YOUR MANUSCRIPT:
Please send me the fully edited manuscript via email by no later than 8 a.m. EST on your scheduled start date. You can send the manuscript any time after initial booking, but that does not guarantee I’ll be able to work on it immediately. However, should I have a cancellation or availability in my schedule, I can start proofreading early.

If you use my proofreading service, you agree to credit Julia Griffis as the proofreader on the copyright page in the published book.
Disclaimer
I take every precaution in my work, however, it is the obligation of the author to check and approve all changes I make to his or her manuscript. The ultimate responsibility for the final published manuscript rests solely with the author.
I, Julia Griffis, disclaim all liability for any loss, damages, or injury resulting from the use of edited material or in any way related to my services. By acknowledging these terms and submitting the proofreading form as booking confirmation, the author agrees to hold Julia Griffis entirely free of any liability, including financial.
The copyright and all publishing rights to any submitted manuscript will remain the property of the author. Confidentiality is of utmost importance, and an author’s manuscript and personal information will never be shared, copied, or transmitted without the express written consent from the author.
