~Synopsis~

To save her mother’s life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters—never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family’s past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he’s willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City—whatever the cost?

~Review~

“City of Glass” was a perfect and brilliant conclusion to the first trilogy of the Mortal Instruments series, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the outcome! It was definitely the most intense and action-filled installment of the first three books, and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. There were certainly an abundance of surprises and twists and turns throughout that could be quite shocking at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading every single page. All of the characters, with the exception of Valentine and his followers, were absolutely amazing and they touched my heart even more in this book. Clary, Jace, Simon, Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, Luke, and all of the others felt like such close friends, and I absolutely loved going on this first part of their journey with them. I experienced many emotions throughout “City of Glass;” from sorrow and pain, to joy and happiness, and everything in between.  Whatever the characters felt, I felt those same emotions right along with them. I loved the relationships between all of the characters, and I couldn’t have been happier with the ending. I loved this installment the most out of the first three books, and I cannot wait to rediscover all of my favorite parts and moments of the series and characters I have come to love so dearly in the final three books!
