Book Review – Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

IMG_5273Synopsis

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Authors Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward have teamed up once again to bring you another chance meeting, another Cocky Bastard who will charm his way into your heart.

I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.

The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.

I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.

I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.

Only, both men were me.

And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Review

Mister Moneybags was another great standalone Cocky Bastard novel by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, and I really enjoyed Dex and Bianca’s story. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are two of my top favorite contemporary romance authors, and they truly create magic when they collaborate together. I loved their writing styles and I honestly couldn’t tell who was writing which parts. Everything flowed seamlessly and I loved reading every page they wrote. They definitely create something very special when they write together, but they are also amazing on their own. There isn’t a single book they’ve written that I haven’t loved, and Mister Moneybags was no exception. I was intrigued from the very first scene between Dex and Bianca, and even though the storyline wasn’t at all what I was expecting it to be, I still really enjoyed reading it and going on this journey with the characters.

Dex and Bianca were great and I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. I loved their personalities and the chemistry between them was undeniable. I liked how their relationship progressed, however the storyline certainly took a turn that I did not see coming when I first started reading this book. There were definitely a mixture of good and bad parts throughout, but all of it was worth the roller coaster of emotions in the end. I loved that Mister Moneybags was told from both Dex and Bianca’s POV, and there were actually more parts of the story from Dex’s perspective than Bianca’s. I loved both of their personalities, but I will say that I connected on a deeper level with Dex than I did Bianca. He was more open about everything – well, almost everything – and I really enjoyed reading from his perspective. I liked Bianca and did warm up to her more near the end, but that spark was missing that prevented me from fully connecting with her like I have with other heroines in the past. Even though some parts of the story were better than others, all of the turmoil and upheaval was worth it, and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic with the outcome.

Mister Moneybags was an amazing, interesting, and entertaining contemporary romance, and even though it wasn’t my favorite collaborative novel by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, I was very happy with the conclusion to Dex and Bianca’s story. I am so excited to read more books by these two brilliant authors and I can’t wait to see what they release next!
