Review
NO SPOILERS!
Defenseless was a sexy and suspenseful standalone contemporary romance set in the Salvation series world, and I really enjoyed it! The storyline and characters were interesting and entertaining, and I enjoyed Corinne Michaels’s writing style.
Mark and Charlie were great, and I really enjoyed them and their story. I liked their personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed for the most part. They were a little difficult to connect with in the beginning, and it took me a while to warm up to them. I honestly liked Mark more than Charlie. She was difficult and argumentative a lot, and I just couldn’t relate to her as much. At least Mark was funny and sarcastic. I did enjoy reading the book from both Mark and Charlie’s POV, and most of their banter and interactions with each other. Defenseless was definitely an enemies-to-lovers romance, and while I usually enjoy that trope, the constant bickering and back and forth between Mark and Charlie was very frustrating and annoying at times. It wasn’t all that bad, but it definitely diminished my enjoyment of the story and made me deduct a star. There were a few aspects and certain scenes that I didn’t like and could have done without, but despite all of the ups and downs, and plot twists, I was happy with the conclusion to Mark and Charlie’s story.
Defenseless was a sexy and suspenseful standalone contemporary romance and conclusion to the Salvation series, and I really enjoyed it! Corinne Michaels did a good job with this book, and even though it hasn’t been my favorite from her so far, I was pleased with the outcome to Mark and Charlie’s story. The Salvation series was definitely an emotional and suspenseful roller coaster, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Defenseless was a great conclusion to this series, and I’m looking forward to reading more from Corinne Michaels!
