Review – When the Walls Come Down by M. Mabie and Aly Martinez

When the walls come down cover

When the walls come down, there’s just love.

Shane Warren was the most charming, gorgeous, and witty guy I’d ever met. So imagine my surprise when my one-night stand turned out to be my neighbor and the man I’d been hired to replace. It was hard to feel neighborly or professional while sneaking out of his bedroom in the morning, but that didn’t stop me from coming back for more.

I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but Shane made it hard to resist.

Why did his teasing shoulder kisses sweep me off my feet?
Why did every small gesture he made have such a major impact on my heart?
And most of all, why did he hold me like he never wanted to let go?

When it came to losing his career, Shane wasn’t going down without a fight.
But neither was I–even if I was falling in love with him.

Bottom line: If I wanted my dream job, it meant stealing it from the man of my dreams–and ultimately risking losing them both.

Review

NO SPOILERS!

M. Mabie and Aly Martinez wove a sweet, sexy, hilarious, swoon-worthy, and highly entertaining standalone romantic comedy in When the Walls Come Down, and I absolutely LOVED Shane and Maggie’s story!

Mabie and Martinez were a fantastic writing duo, and I loved their seamless prose and the story they created for Shane and Maggie. The neighbors-to-lovers/office romance tropes were fun and engaging, and the addictive and playful banter had me laughing out loud from start to finish. When the Walls Come Down had tons of heart, humor, heat, and an utterly irresistible romance I won’t soon forget.

The characters were phenomenal. I absolutely adored Shane and Maggie. They were AH-MAZING and had wonderful, lovable personalities. Shane and Maggie shared an instant spark, and their chemistry together was electric. I loved how their relationship progressed throughout, and as aforementioned in the paragraph above, their banter and interactions with each other were witty, playful, and hilarious, and I honestly couldn’t get enough.

When the Walls Come Down was a MUST READ collaborative effort from M. Mabie and Aly Martinez, and I absolutely loved Shane and Maggie’s sexy, hilarious, and swoon-worthy standalone neighbors-to-lovers/ office romance story! I can’t wait to read Mabie and Martinez’s next collaboration, When the Time is Right!

About M. Mabie

Mabie lives in Illinois with her husband. She writes everything from steamy romantic comedies to angst-filled, pull your hair out drama. She enjoys it all. With her unconventional love stories, she tries to embody “real-life romance.”

She cares about politics, but will not discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne’s World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head. She has always been a writer. In fact, she was born with a pen in her hand, which almost never happens. Almost.

Mabie usually doesn’t speak in third-person. She promises.

About Aly Martinez

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
