~Synopsis~
From New York Times Bestseller, Kendall Ryan, comes a sexy new standalone novel.
My tempting, and very alpha friend Sterling Quinn is someone I consider off-limits.
It’s not just that we’re friends, he’s also cocky, confident, and British, which means he’s a walking aphrodisiac.
But lately he’s been giving me the look. You know the one. When he thinks I’m not paying attention, and his gaze lingers for too long.
And then we start working together, and that’s when the sexual tension between us gets so thick, I want to hack through it with a machete. I want to make all these deep feelings I’ve harbored for him disappear, because there’s no way this can end well.
The lines between business and pleasure become irrevocably blurred, and I’m stuck between a rock, and Sterling’s very, very hard place.
Rather than keep a level head about our growing attraction, Sterling wants to go all in, showing me just how explosive we can be together.
But I’ve been around long enough to know that this British bad boy is more than my heart can handle. I’m not about to be cast aside like yesterday’s underwear when he’s done having fun.
Sterling’s never been told no, and he’s not about to put his ego aside and play by my rules. But I never thought he’d fight so dirty.
~Review~
An ARC of The Fix Up was generously provided to me by the author’s assistant. Thank you!
Sterling Quinn and Camryn Palmer were first introduced in the Hitched series by Kendall Ryan as the best friends to Olivia Cane and Noah Tate. After getting a glimpse of their characters in that series, I was really looking forward to reading their story in The Fix Up.
Sterling and Camryn’s story was definitely unconventional. Sterling had to marry within six months to inherit fifty million dollars, and Camryn was hired as his PR/matchmaker to help find him a wife in the allotted time. Although it was a unique concept, some parts of the story felt a little rushed and a bit choppy. However, I thought the author did a pretty good job with delivering their story overall.
I enjoyed Sterling and Camryn’s personalities and chemistry together, and thought they were a good fit as a couple. Sterling was tall, dark and handsome. He was also British. With an accent. Need I say more? Camryn was a strong, independent, and caring heroine that was hard not to like. They each had moments where they frustrated me as the reader, but for the most part I really liked them. I did find it slightly difficult to connect with Sterling and Camryn in the beginning, but I warmed up to them a little more as the book progressed. I did enjoy the fact Sterling and Camryn’s story was told from both of their POV. It was nice to read their story from both of their perspectives to know what they were thinking and how they felt about everything going on. There were a few aspects of the story I didn’t care for, and would have liked to change in some ways, but it was still a good romantic read. Some of the things Sterling said to Camryn towards the end of the story were utterly romantic and definitely made me swoon. I enjoyed the last few chapters of the book the most, and was quite happy with the way Sterling and Camryn’s story concluded.
Rating:
THREE “Sterling and Camryn” STARS
